Our work / Rehabilitation

Recovery is dignity, agency and participation.

Mental wellbeing held within neurorehabilitation, family life and the longer work of rebuilding confidence.

Mental-health care held within rehabilitation and longer-term recovery.

The central idea

Rehabilitation becomes more complete when emotional wellbeing is treated as part of recovery—not an afterthought.

Through collaboration with Voluntary Medicare Society, SAWAB has embedded mental-health care within neurorehabilitation and longer-term recovery.

The work recognises the relationship among health, confidence, family wellbeing, livelihoods and participation. Recovery is measured through the possibility of returning to a fuller life.
